Weaning The Puppies

Five to six weeks after their birth the puppies can be considered for normal food feeding but it is a not common for all the puppies as the period of theirs becoming capable of consuming properly all the softened foods depends upon their breeds as well. Where on the one side some puppies start nibbling soft moistened foods after five to six weeks, there are many who are not found capable to be weaned even upto eight to nine weeks of time on the other.

If your a bitch has given a birth to puppies first time in your home and you excessively are paranoid of weaning them, then you should take the following steps to wean the puppies-

* Ensure the bitch should be careful enough of her newly born puppies and should meet their requirement by her breast feeding.
* If you find your bitch capable enough of meeting her puppies’ requirements successfully then you should leave her alone for one month at least without attempting to approach. But if you notice that the bitch is not sufficiently efficient in breast-feeding then you should afford some feeder made specially for the newly born puppies.
* In case the bitch faces no problem in breast-feeding, there remains nothing on your part to worry about. Do not approach the puppies unless their mother starts leaving them alone to go far away from them carelessly, after three to four weeks of time. Doesn’t growl at you nor does get hostile at yours sight.
* Before moving ahead to wean the newly born puppies, get yourself perfectly assured that the mother of puppies isn’t likely to oppose yours developing a relationship with them.
* You should not attempt to wean the puppies before twenty days. Any attempt on your part before it cant yield a positive result. Rather it will result into newly created complications and abdominal disorders as well in puppies.
* Before proceeding to accomplish the weaning of puppies you should separate them from their mother and offer moistened foods soaked in lukewarm water.
* Do not offer the puppies red meat or eggs, rather serve them biscuits and milk.
* Don’t get excited in making the puppies consume all the served food items. Leave the puppies to finish the served foods by their nibbling, giving one hour at least.
* Being new to food items the puppies are not used to them which can take them more time to finish.
* Discard the unfinished food. Keep the bitch deprived of foods the day of weaning the puppies. But offer her sufficient quantity of water for twenty four hours. It will hider her from breast feeding.
* Repeating such feeding will help you accomplish the weaning with a great success and the puppies themselves will start eating the foods.
